RLS beats Opp, 62-51

Four Red Level Tigers finished in double figures in their 62-51 victory over Opp on Tuesday night.

Tim Sims led RLS with 17 points; Spencer Stallworth scored 13 points; Dee Tolbert had 12 points; and KJ Lawrence added 10 points to pace the Tigers.

RLS coach Allen Catrett said there were more shots taken last night compared to the loss to Straughn on Monday.

“We left too many points on the board,” he said. “With those close shots, you’ve just got to make them.”

The Tigers surged to a 10-2 lead with 4:14 left in the first period and never looked back.

After the first period, RLS outscored Opp 13-7 in the second period to take a 28-17 lead at the break.

Red Level led 40-33 after the third period.

Opp’s JaKeith Edwards led with 15 points, and Mandarious Mount had 13 points.

In varsity girls action, Opp defeated RLS 64-35.

The game got a little close for the Lady Bobcats in the second period, as the Lady Tigers got the game within five points with a hiccup of minutes left in the first half.

Opp led 29-19 at halftime, and came out a different team in the second half.

The Lady Bobcats outscored RLS 30-10 in the third period.

Nisha Stoudemire led OHS with 34 points. Saquaya Lane added 18 points.

Red Level’s Shelby Holley led the Lady Tigers with 16 points. Kayla Hinson had 11 points.

In junior varsity action, Opp beat RLS 30-24.

Chris Morrow led OHS with 11 points.

Ontario Nearor led RLS with eight points.

Opp hosts Straughn in area action tomorrow night, while Red Level hosts Pleasant Home. Action at Red Level begins at 3 p.m.
