A quick trip to a local pharmacy by an Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control agent led to the discovery of a stolen pick up truck and the arrest of a Talladega County man and his Andalusia girlfriend.
Lt. Lance Price of the ABC Board said earlier this week, the agency received information about illegal drug activity at an Andalusia home and a vehicle traveling from Talladega County to visit the area.
“We ran the license number and it came back stolen,” Price said. “Then, we couldn’t find it again. Agent Marvin Williford happened to a local pharmacy Wednesday and noticed the vehicle in the parking lot and three suspects inside.”
Price said after interviewing them, two – Jonathan Wayne Fleming and Amanda Ann Haynes – were taken into custody. The third was released, he said.
Fleming was charged with receiving stolen property and held on a $10,000 bond. Haynes was set to be extradited to Talladega County Friday, where she is expected to face theft charges.
“People may wonder why the ABC Board is working a stolen vehicle and drugs,” Price said. “We are state police and here to assist any law enforcement agency – be it city or county.”
