An Andalusia man is facing attempted murder and kidnapping charges after he allegedly tried to strangle and run over his ex-girlfriend before she escaped.
Eric Steven Miller, 25, is also charged with domestic violence by strangulation after he allegedly took the woman against her will from a home near the intersection of River Falls Street and Snowden Drive Wednesday night, said Sgt. Jason Curry with the Andalusia Police Department.
“She was then taken by vehicle to a local car wash where she attempted to escape, but was forced by Miller back into his vehicle,” Curry said. “When she attempted to escape a second time, Miller attempted to run her over with his truck.”
Curry said Miller was then able to force the victim back into his vehicle before driving to the parking lot of a local business on the West Bypass.
“There, she was able to escape a third time – this time inside a business where she was able to get help,” Curry said. “Miller, who fled from the scene, then returned to the car wash where he attempted to discard evidence of the crime.”
Curry said that evidence was recovered and police later took Miller into custody at his Creekwood Road home later that night.
Miller is currently being held in the Covington County Jail under a $700,000 bond.
