Andalusia-based Christian group Fresh Anointing racked up big at the Emerald Coast Jubilee Weekend this past week in Panama City, Fla.

The group took home four Emerald Coast Southern Gospel Music Association Beacon awards, including stage musician of the year; Song of the Year for the song “Jesus Did,” written by Jenny Hammond.

The song also won Hammonds the Songwriter of the Year award; and the group won album of the year for its newest album, “Faith.”

David Wiggins of Fresh Anointing called the group “blessed.”

“We are excited,” he said. “Jenny is a great songwriter. She writes a lot of the music for our group – she and I both do.”

The group consists of Wiggins, Hammond, Michael Frank and Casey Mathews.

Wiggins said the group is stretching its touring farther and farther.

In fact, the group left Jacksonville, Fla., Monday for the five-day Paradigm Gospel Music Cruise, which will travel to the Bahamas and Key West, Fla.

“This is our fourth-gospel cruise,” Wiggins said aboard the Carnival Fascination.

The group’s tour spans from Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and Illinois.

Despite its success, Wiggins said the band still loves to perform at home.

“We appreciate our hometown folks’ support,” Wiggins said.
