Andalusia sweeps Providence Christian

Andalusia swept Providence Christian in a doubleheader at home Thursday night.
The Bulldogs got a bit hit out of Hunter Earnest to break up a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning and got a 5-3 win in the first game.
In the second game, Andalusia won 5-0.

Zach Ward got the win for the Bulldogs on the mound in a 5.1-inning outing. Ward allowed four hits, two earned runs and struck out four.
Seven of Andalusia’s nine starting hitters had one hit each in the win.
Earnest’s three-run double to right in the fourth inning gave the Bulldogs a needed 4-1 lead.
To close the game, Grayson Campbell struck out one and allowed one hit in 1.1 innings for the save.
Andalusia 5, Providence Christian 0
Earnest went 3-for-4; Brandon Smith went 1-for-3; and Todd Wright and Jud Rogers had one single each.
Quinton Maddox scattered six hits in 5.0 innings and had eight strikeouts for the win.
Justin Scherzinger had two strikeouts in two innings and allowed no hits for the close.
Andalusia improves to 5-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs’ next nine games will be played over a span of six days.
Andalusia hosts Pleasant Home for a doubleheader on Monday. First pitch is at 4:30 p.m.
In junior varsity action, Andalusia split with rival Opp.
The Bulldogs fell 8-2 in game one, but came back to beat the Bobcats 4-3 in game two.
The junior varsity squad will be in action on Saturday at home against Charles Henderson.
