DA warns check writers

The Covington County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday released its top 11 list of most wanted worthless check writers.
But they’re not the only ones who have outstanding warrants.
District Attorney Walt Merrell has announced plans to publish a list of outstanding bad check warrants in the county’s three newspapers beginning Sat., March 30.
Those who are concerned they might be on the list and who would like to take care of the outstanding checks before the names are published can call the district attorney’s office at 334.222.2513.
Those who do have an outstanding check warrant can turn themselves in at the Covington County Sheriff’s Department and have an opportunity to take care of the matter in a way that, while it might be inconvenient, is much better than the alternative, he said.
The warrants date back to the early 1990s.

• Don Robert Barclay, 37, on two counts of negotiating a worthless instrument. Barclay owes a total of $5,090.65 plus fines and restitution;
