Griffin throws no-hitter, AHS routs PHS

Andalusia only needed 10 innings of baseball to beat Pleasant Home on Monday night.

The Bulldogs (7-1) defeated the Eagles 15-0 in the first game, and went on to win the night cap, 11-0.

Andalusia freshman pitcher Taylor Griffin threw a no-hitter, striking out seven batters in 5.0 innings of work to lead the Bulldogs.

“He did a good job for us,” AHS coach Jonathan Rasberry said. “It was good to see a young guy get out of some jams during the game.”

Brandon Smith went 2-for-3 to lead AHS behind the plate.

Zach Ward, Quinton Maddox, Todd Wright and Will Harrison went 1-for-2 each. Hunter Earnest went 1-for-1.

Andalusia 15, Pleasant Home 0

Andalusia’s Justin Scherzinger went a perfect 4-for-4 in hitting for the Bulldogs.

Earnest added a 3-for-4 performance, and Ward paced the hitting by going 2-for-4.

Smith allowed one hit in 4.0 innings and struck out five to get the win on the mound. Keontya Johnson struck out two and allowed no hits in the fifth inning.
