The Andalusia City Council amended three personnel policies Tuesday night. The changes:

• Reset the number of accidents allowed per department for determining safety bonuses. The changes were made because departments were recently realigned and combined. The policy allows annual payments of uf to $250 per person for safe work performance, including $100 for individuals; $100 per person for departmental safety; and $50 per person for overall city safety.

• Amended the ordinance for leave accumulation, limiting the number of vacation hours that can be carried over to the next year to 160. With prior administrative approval, allowances can be made for persons whose jobs make it impossible to use vacation time. For instance, the fire department is required to have five people on duty for every shift.

• Cleaned up language in the city’s policies that state the city and utilities board operate under the same policies and procedures.

In other business, the council:

• Declared a utility body and a fertilizer spreader surplus property.

• Approved quarterly appropriations to outside agencies totaling $38,175.
