Florala lost a heart breaker Friday night.

The Wildcats fought with New Brockton for nine innings with John Bess on the mound, but fell in a 1-0 decision to the No. 9-ranked Class 2A Gamecocks.

FHS had men on second and third base with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.

“We couldn’t get a timely hit,” FHS coach Bubba Nall said.

Bess allowed only three hits in his stellar outing, Nall said.

With this loss, Florala falls to 7-3 on the season.

In softball action, the Lady Bobcats fell 7-0 to the Lady Gamecocks.

“They just hit the ball where we weren’t at times,” FHS coach Pat Maddox said.

Florala is back in action on Tues., April 2, at Rocky Bayou.
