Time is running out for those who haven’t filed their taxes as tax day is drawing near.
For those who still need help preparing their taxes, some local businesses will be available to help, but you may have to wait.
Greg White of White & McCoung said while his office is busy, they would help those who need it.
“We are very busy,” he said. “But if someone needs help, we encourage them to come in. We want to help everyone that needs it. It may be that we help them file an extension, but we’re here to help.”
White said his office will be open until lunch on Monday.
Donaldson Accounting & Tax said they are happy to take walk-ins. They open at 9 a.m. today and close at 5 p.m., and will be open until noon on Saturday.
Staff at H&R Block said they are almost full, but they will take walk-ins. While walk-ins may be available, you may be asked to schedule an appointment. They’ll be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The deadline to file taxes or an extension request is Mon., April 15.
“Missing the tax deadline can be costly,” said IRS spokesman Dan Boone. “But taxpayers can easily avoid or reduce the penalties by taking action no later than April 15.” Extension forms are available on IRS.gov.
