Florala softball coach Pat Maddox said the Lady Wildcats hit the ball the best this season in a 7-0 victory over W.S. Neal on Friday night.
Lady Wildcats’ pitcher Lily Ritzel threw a shutout, striking out nine, with no walks and only allowing three hits to get the win.
FHS (10-9) started scoring quickly in the game.
Kendyl McDaniel hit a single and later scored on Lyndsee Edwards’ hit.
The Lady Wildcats went back to work in the third inning when Callie Wise and Grace Cox reached on singles.
A line drive by Samie Hammac scored Wise and Cox to give FHS a 3-0 lead.
Edwards started the fourth with a double, Wise reached on a single and Hammac drove Edwards and Wise in for a good 5-0 lead.
Bailea Rickett scored the last two runs on a double in the fifth.
“We probably hit the ball tonight the best we have all season,” Maddox said. “The girls are beginning to have fun and understanding what we want to do.”
