The Opp City Council on Monday night approved $2,100 for the Opp Fire Department for refurbishment of its Truck 12.

The truck, a 1993 Chevrolet 3500HD, is used for grass and brush fires.

The Fire Department had $14,602 in funds available, but needed a total of $16,700 for the entire refurbishing project.

The cost includes $13,500 for a skid unit; $2,000 for a steel flat bed, which includes material, paint, wiring, lights and labor by firefighters; and $1,200 for two aluminum tool boxes.

Opp Mayor John Bartholomew said the funds would come from the General Fund.
