Today is a big deal for Florala, head baseball coach Bubba Nall said.
The Wildcats came back from falling 3-1 in game one to Geneva County, and beat the Pathers 10-5 in game two to force a game-three all-or-nothing decider on Monday in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs.
“Now it’s anybody’s series on Monday,” Nall said. “I feel like it’s a big deal for Florala. Our kids played hard and fought back and won the second game.”
John Bess took the mound for FHS in game one, where the Wildcats couldn’t score any runs.
“We had people on second and third, first and second many times,” Nall said. “We just didn’t get the hits when we needed them.”
In the second game, Nall said the players hit better.
“Our defense played deep, and that’s it in a nutshell,” he said. “We’re just proud of our kids.”
Game time on Monday is at 4 p.m.
