A group opposed to a proposed sales tax in Andalusia has scheduled a meeting at 7 p.m. on Mon., May 20, at Harper’s Diner.

The public is invited to attend.

City officials were notified of the meeting in an email to the city clerk just before 4 p.m. Friday.

Mayor Earl Johnson said late Friday that he and city council members had not been individually invited, and that they were already scheduled to be in Montgomery at a League of Municipalities meeting on Monday night.

Johnson said that under most conditions, he would return to Andalusia for a meeting of this kind. However, he and council members will be accepting a statewide quality of life award on behalf of the city Monday night.
