ARH seeking volunteers

Andalusia Regional Hospital is looking for a few good men – and a few good women – willing to volunteer their time.

Patty Ashworth, community relations director of ARH, said the hospital once had a very vibrant group of volunteers, but their numbers have faded.

“We are looking for people who can staff an information desk in the front lobby and help get people where they need to go,” she said. “We also need people to work in the surgical waiting room who can help families with coffee or take messages for them.”

Ashworth said ARH could use 16 to 20 volunteers who are willing to work four hours a week. The hospital provides the volunteer “uniform” and other perks.

In the past, she said, the volunteers also have worked to raise money for different causes with a silver show, a book sale, and other events.

She particularly praised a loyal group who still works- each week, including Lanette Goodyear, Mary Hill, Harry Peacock and Audrey Byers.

Health care laws require background checks for volunteers. To apply, contact Kaci Perry at 222-6951 or kaci.perry@lpnt.net.
