‘Pet loving’ Facebook scammer pleads

An Andalusia woman at the heart of a nationwide scheme to scam pet lovers out more than $25,000 in cash and thousands more in pet supplies pleaded guilty to theft charges Thursday and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Sharlotte Marie Adams is the 30-year-old operator of Animal Aid and Rescue Resources Inc. The operation focused mainly on the rescue and adoption of cats and was centered inside Adams’ home on Lori Lane.

Adams has applied for probation; however, the district attorney’s office has stated it would not support the application. For the complete story, read the Sat., June 8, edition.
