Rain. Rain. Rain. And more rain.

That’s what Covington County’s 16 and under and 17-to-18-year-old Babe Ruth baseball teams faced this weekend in Alex City.

When it wasn’t raining, the 16Us went 1-2 in pool play, while the 17-18 bunch lost all of their pool play games

After a bit more of pool play on Sunday morning, play was called off after the third rain delay of the tournament that evening.

On Friday, the 17-18s lost 3-2 to the Cahaba Nationals, where John Bess pitched a complete game, striking out two batters.

On Saturday, Covington County fell 6-3 to Over the Mountain (OTM). Quinton Maddox and Grayson Campbell saw action on the mound.

Ross Graham threw six innings and tallied 100 pitches against the Raw Dogs of Mobile, where CC lost 6-0. Graham struck out three batters.

The 17-18s will hit the diamond again tonight for a doubleheader in Greenville. The five-inning games start at 6 p.m.
