Twelve budding artists have an opportunity to experience the Power of Art next week through a partnership between the Lower Alabama Art Coalition and PowerSouth.
Liz Reid will teach art classes for students who are rising second graders through middle school at LAAC next week. The enrichment class will explore both drawing and painting, LAAC board member Janet Beste said.
Through a partnership with PowerSouth, at least one piece of art done by each student will be photographed and enlarged to a canvas approximately 26 x 30 inches.
That artwork will be available for “lease” from the LAAC to be displayed in local businesses, along with photos and bios on each of the artists. The art also may be sold.
Meanwhile, a portion of the proceeds from the lease/sale of the art will be used to be art supplies for local schools.
Beste said this is the first in a series of planned classes.
The class will be from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., June 17 through June 21, at the LAAC. The cost is $100, and students will keep their original art.
To register, contact the LAAC at 222-3205.
