FHS booster club needs residents’ help

Sometimes the booster club needs a little boost – and that’s why the Florala club is asking area residents to help accomplish at least five projects for the school’s athletics department.
April Laird, booster club treasurer, said the club will hold a spaghetti supper and silent auction on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Florala High School cafeteria. Plates – featuring the late Mrs. Suzie Morris’ infamous cheese rolls – will be $5 each.
“There is so much we’d like to do for our teams,” Laird said. “The PA system is going out in the stadium. The football team is pushing for a new scoreboard, but what they really need is workout equipment.
“But, we don’t just help the football team,” she said. “We gave $1,600 to the girls’ softball team for their trip to regionals. We try to help all sports, and with school starting soon, the requests will start coming in.”
Donations will also be accepted and can be mailed in to FHS, she said.
