Barely a speck of red dirt could be seen on the Lunatic’s shiny new uniforms Thursday night at the Dwight Mikel Sports Complex.

Thursday night represented the second night of men’s league softball action at the complex. The season began on Tuesday.

Five men’s teams — Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, Rocky Smithart, Lunatic, Lee Head and Walt Merrell — will play games on Tuesday and Thursday nights during the month of June.

City of Andalusia director of parks and cemeteries Alan Bracewell said the number of teams this year is low compared to the numbers in the past.

In July, four teams have games on Tues., July 2. No games will be played on July 4.

Games resume on Mon., July 8, and will alternate playing schedules for the next three weeks with games either on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Tuesday and Thursday games will take place during the week of July 15.

During the week of July 22, games will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The final two games of the regular season will be held July 29-30.

A men’s softball league end of the year tournament will be held Aug. 1, 5 and 6 at the complex on Field No. 3. Tournament format is double elimination.
