The 12 and under Cal Ripken State Baseball Tournament gets under way on Saturday at Johnson Park.

Six teams — Butler County, Covington County, Semmes, Demopolis, Opp and Andalusia — have been split up into two pools. Covington County is in the American Pool. Andalusia and Opp are in the National Pool.

Semmes will play Butler at 10 a.m.; Opp plays Demopolis at noon; Butler will play Covington County at 2 p.m.; and Andalusia will play Demopolis at 4 p.m. on Saturday on Chick Earl Field.

On Sunday, Covington County plays Semmes at 10 a.m., and Opp plays Andalusia at noon to round out pool play for the tournament.

Later on Sunday, the first game of bracket play will commence at 4 p.m., where the No. 2 seed and No. 3 seeds from the pools play each other. There will be another No. 2-3 seeded game at 6 p.m.

On Monday, the No. 1 seeds from each pool will play the winners of the first two games at 10 a.m. and noon, respectively.

The championship game time will be determined as the tournament progresses.
