Andalusia is losing its Payless Shoe Store.
Courtney Wallace, store manager, confirmed the news Thursday.
Wallace, who arrived at the store in October, said the store’s four employees will be transferred to other Payless locations.
“No one is losing their job,” Wallace said. “But we are sad to say that the store will be closed as of July 21.”
Wallace said the store hasn’t heavily discounted merchandise yet; however, it is currently offering a buy-one, get-one-half-off sale, as well as 50 percent off accessories and flip flops.
Wallace said the corporate offices of Payless Shoe Source, which are located in Topeka, Kansas, stated that, “Our corporate office was unable or unwilling to renew the lease at the Covington Mall, which is expiring at the end of July.”
