14 arrested in drug round up, more arrests expected

The 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force wrapped up a three-month operation in Opp Thursday, with 14 people arrested so far and more arrests expected.
The arrests were announced in a press conference in Opp this morning.
Those arrested include:
• Jacob Blue – distribution of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Julia Donaldson – distribution of a controlled substance.
• Shon Coleman – two counts of distribution of a controlled substance
• Kevin Lawrence – distribution of a controlled substance
• Janet Blue – distribution of a controlled substance.
• Casandra Lee – distribution of a controlled substance.
• Jamie Stoudemire – distribution of a controlled substance.
• Letteron Brannon – two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia.
• John Womack – distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Jarel Wade – possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Kristopher Rine – possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Kier Milton – distribution of a controlled substance.
• Danny Wambles – possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Derreck Wambles – possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia.
The DTF worked with confidential informants, as well as undercover officers as part of the investigation, according to a press release distributed at the press conference.
It was assisted by the District 8 ABC Control Board, the Opp Police Department, the Florala Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Covington County Sheriff’s Office and the Covington County District Attorney’s Office.
DTF Commander Mark Odom said, “The DTF remains committed to the eradication of the blight caused by drugs from Covington County. Within the past year we have arrested 242 individuals and have removed approximately 48 pounds of illegal narcotics form our community – including the largest synthetic drug seizure as well as the largest cultivated marijuana growth in DTF history.
“We also seized five vehicles, one parcel of real property and thousands of dollars in U.S. currency related to narcotic activity,” Odom said, adding that 242 drug cases were prosecuted, and 121 individuals went to prison, 42 entered drug court and 79 were placed on probation.”
