Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Sun., July 14, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tim Trent officiating and interment following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Foreman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Comfort Care Hospice.

She was born and raised in South Alabama with parents the late Sam and Alice Hoomes in Brooklyn. She was married to Ivy Lee Cook and they had three children, Aundra Knode of Pace, Fla., Marcus (Marcee) Cook of Crestview, Fla., and the late Terrie McKay. When Mr. Cook passed, she married Richard Grantham. After his passing, she married Bennett Hughen.

In her early years, she worked at the Andala shirt factory, the Box Factory, and then went to school to get a beautician license and had a beauty shop in her home until Hurricane Opal destroyed that home. She built a new home, in the same location, and spent her retirement working in her flowerbeds and fishing in her pond.

She was a member of Andalusia Garden Club many years and the American Legion. She was a dedicated Christian mother who was a one-time member of Liberty Home Baptist Church, and when she married Mr. Hughen, moved to the First United Methodist Church in Andalusia.

She is also survived by three of her sisters, Sammie McGlothren of Brewton, Marie (Robert) Durant of Mobile and Katie (Tommy) Nelson of Brewton; her grandchildren, Tina (Scott) Rogers of Andalusia, Angela Kennedy of Crestview, Fla., Sharon (Jody) Rogers of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Jamey (Joyce) Cook of Norfolk, Va., Pamela (Guy) Wright of Bath Springs, Tenn., Ronald (Vickie) Nicholson of Birmingham and Linda Wheeler of Pace, Fla.; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
