Matthews Stadium at Florala High School is getting a makeover.

Parents, students, coaches and other volunteers have been busy since Thursday working to make FHS look a little cleaner in the lead up to the 2013 football season.

Wildcats head football coach Bubba Nall said the work days will extend until Saturday.

“We had a tremendous number of people show up to help,” Nall said Thursday.

Nall said some of the tasks being completed include painting doors, cleaning bathrooms, power washing the stadium and painting the goal posts.

“It’s just good to see that everybody’s excited about what’s going on,” the coach said. “We’ll be planting some shrubs, laying some block and giving everything a little coat of fresh paint.

“There’s more pride in what we’re doing,” he said. “When you ask them to work, they show up.”

Nall said there’s still plenty of work to do and invites anyone who has some free time to come to the school to help.

“Anytime you can have mom and dad show up and help, it always makes things easier,” he said.
