The Covington County Sheriff’s Office will host a free firearms familiarization and safety course for women on Sept. 7, at 8 a.m.

Participants must provide one’s own weapon and 50 rounds of ammunition. The class will meet at that day at the Covington County Commission Chambers at 8 a.m. for a class on basic knowledge of handguns and to answer any questions one may have. Participants will then leave travel the Covington County Firing Range, where they will be instructed on the proper handling and firing of one’s pistol.
