Any Opp peewees want to play football?

Opp’s 11-to-12-year-old peewee football team needs players, Opp parks and recreation director Willie Edwards said.

“We really want to make a team,” Edwards said.

Right now, the Bobcats have seven kids on the peewee team. There needs to be 11 players to make a team, he aid.

The deadline to sign up to play is Friday. Registration cost is $35, and those interested can sign up at the parks and recreation office at 1000 Cameron Road in Opp. Those signing up will have to pay an additional $35 for a jersey.

If there isn’t a 11-12 peewee team, then there won’t be a tiny mite, termite and midget team, Edwards said.

“This is important,” he said. “For the tri-county league, we have to develop a peewee team in order to develop all of the other teams.”
