For more than two months, players from around the area have battled a grueling summer baseball schedule in the lead up to this week’s 16-18 Babe Ruth Baseball World Series.

At the start of June, there were two local 16-18 baseball teams — Covington County Red and Blue.

Both teams were narrowed down to 17 players who would represent the host team for the World Series this week.

Action will get underway Thursday morning at around 9:30, at Crum Foshee Field on the campus of LBWCC.

Officials were busy finishing up the last-minute details on Monday.
