JESSE E. JACK BRAWNER

Jesse E. Jack Brawner, 86, of Andalusia, passed away on Tues., Aug. 20, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Sat., Aug. 24, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Trent officiating and interment following in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Mr. Brawner retired from the United States Postal Service as a postman, with his last job as superintendent of mail. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II, as well as during the Korean Conflict. Elected as an Andalusia city councilman, he served in that capacity from 1992 to 2000. During his retirement years, he became an avid golfer. He was known by his family and friends for his love of his country and his attributes that made him a true southern gentleman.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia B. Brawner; sons, David (Jean) Brawner, both of Andalusia, Dr. S. Dale (Kelly) Brawner of Wilsonville; two step-sons, Walter Boyd of Andalusia and Wesley Boyd of Huntsville, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Merilee Brawner, all of Andalusia; three grandchildren, Corey (Lauren) Brawner, Nathan Brawner and Kelley (Rusty) Lambert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Clyde Brawner and Mary Glenn Brawner; his sisters, Barbara Higgins, Ellen Tisdale and Mary Clyde Patrick, and a brother, Robert Brawner.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Brawner, Tim Brawner, Nathan Brawner, Corey Brawner, Wesley Boyd, Dwayne Colvin and Devlin Colvin.
