An Andalusia man is dead after an early Sunday morning crash.

Sgt. Steve Jarrett with the Alabama State Troopers said 23-year-old Cameron Smith died just after 2 a.m. when his 1997 Jeep Wrangler left the road way and struck a tree.

Smith was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred, Jarrett said.

No other details were available as the crash remains under investigation, Jarrett said.

Covington County Sheriff’s deputies, troopers, EMS workers and a variety of volunteers responded to the crash, which occurred on County Road 32, five miles south of Andalusia.
