It’s Andalusia-Straughn week and locals are excited about the annual rivalry football game that also kicks off the 2013 regular season.
The Bulldogs and Tigers just finished up their preseason games against Jackson and Walter Wellborn, respectively.
This is one of the biggest rivalries that’s played each year.
A quick Star-News poll on Facebook yielded a lot of people voting for their favorite team along with just as many exclamation points.
Erica Ziglar, a Straughn graduate, said she doesn’t have a preference who wins, just as long as the game is clean.
“May the best come out on top!” Ziglar said.
Jennifer Brooks Smith, Tiffany Day, Gina Shaffer French, Brenda Biggs, Kelly Davis and Snow Pinckard voted for Andalusia.
Niguel Jones, an Andalusia grad, said the Bulldogs’ preseason game showed him a lot.
“They played a tough 5A powerhouse this week,” Jones said. “From the looks of the game, they played well.”
Dorri Ray Pate, Ted-Gail Grimes, Christy Norris, Debra Rhodus, Erica Ladson, Monique Bryant, Tim Worley and Robin Barton Smith pulled the Straughn lever.
Smith said the Tigers will win because of their “motivation and dedication.”
Andalusia and Straughn will play the annual rivalry game Friday night at 7 at Andalusia Municipal Stadium.
