Jeffery Lamar Jernigan, 40, of Red Level, passed away suddenly on Wed., Sept. 4, 2013, in Maryland.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Foreman Funeral Home.

 

ESTELL C. SMITH

Estell C. Smith, 87, of Rose Hill, passed away Sat., Sept. 7, 2013, in the Florala hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., today, Tues., Sept. 10, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Hunt and the Rev. Bill Prichett officiating.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry (Brenda) Smith of Andalusia, Hayward (Shirley) Smith of Rose Hill, Max (Gail) Smith of Andalusia and Johnny Smith of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Michael (Leigh) Smith, Christi (Elliott) King, Michelle (Tony) Gay, Cathy (John) Ward, Lori (Keith) Varner and Heather (Greg) Seay; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmles Smith, and a son, Billy Smith.

JANICE HUMPHRIES

Janice Humphries, 62, of Opp, passed away Sun., Sept. 8, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wed., Sept. 11, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Buford Smith officiating and interment following in Stone Lake Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of services at Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Roger Humphries; son, Joseph Humphries; daughters, Rena Burkhalter and Annie Humphries; mother, Myrtis Smith, all of Opp; sister, Joyce Carroll of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Kayla Gay, Greg Gay, Leanne Gay, Thomas Gay, Adrian Humphries, Caitlin Humphries, Stephen Reynolds, Kyle Humphries, Haylee Humphries, Essence Hopkins and Christian Hopkins; and great-grandchild, Nathaniel Gay.

JOAN MADER

Joan Mader, 83, of Opp, passed away Sat., Sept. 7, 2013, at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wed., Sept. 11, at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Antony Pullukattu Xavier officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mader was born July 23, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisc., and lived there the early part of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a resident of Kinston prior to moving to Opp in 2005.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Windham.

Survivors include her husband Francis Mader; a son Brian (Mary) Mader; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

KILPATRICK

The Rev. William Melvin Kilpatrick, 81, of Andalusia died Fri., Sept. 6, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services were held on Sun., Sept. 8, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Frankie McVay and the Rev. Roger Lee officiating and interment following at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Baker, Fla., with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Kilpatrick of Andalusia; daughters and son-in-laws, Lisa (Altra) Ward of Conyers, Ga., and Kay (George) Prussaca of Eagle, Wis.; sons and daughter-in-law, David Kilpatrick and Michael (Tara) Kilpatrick, both of Andalusia; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Rex (Irone) Kilpatrick, Leslie Ray Kilpatrick and Larry Kilpatrick, all of Andalusia; and honorary “brother,” Porter Harris.

Pallbearers were Zach Ward, Chris Kilpatrick, Eric Kilpatrick, Trace Kilpatrick, Jeff Kilpatrick and Josh Copeland.

Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Helms, Dewayne Scroggins, Harry Blocker, Galford Henderson and Kenneth Jones.

JOSEPH L. BRYAN

Joseph L. Bryan of Georgia, formerly of Dozier, passed away Thurs., Sept. 5, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services were held on Tues., Sept. 10, at 11 a.m., at the Zion Cemetery in Dozier, with Keahey Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the real estate division of the Federal Aviation Administration.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bryan; son, Zachary Earl (Kasey) Bryan; and granddaughter, Ali Ann Bryan, all of Fayetteville, Ga.
