Andalusia junior Stephanie Watts served nine aces in the Lady Bulldogs 3-0 area sweep over Hillcrest-Evergreen on Monday night.

After winning the first two sets 25-13 and 25-11, AHS played the Lady Jaguars a little closer to the chest, allowing Hillcrest to take its first lead at 15-14 in the third set.

The next nine points saw both teams going back and forth until AHS won the point while trailing 19-20.

Thanks to Watts’ powerful serve and with a little help from its hitters, Andalusia went on a 6-0 run to close out the match.

In addition to Watts, Alexis Lawrence had four kills. Rachel Dayton had four assists.

The Lady Bulldogs improve to 2-1 in Class 4A, Area 2. Andalusia will have to win out in area play against Wilcox Central and Monroe County to have a chance at hosting the area tournament. AHS plays Wilcox next Tuesday for one match.

Andalusia will be in a tri-match today at home against Providence Christian in junior high, junior varsity and varsity action.

Additionally, Dauphin will be at AHS as well, playing the JV squad.

All action starts at 3:30 p.m. in the volleyball gym at AHS.
