Opp man charged in burglary

An Opp man stands accused of burglarizing a local auto parts store.

Police reports show that Ronald C. Phillips, 61, is charged with burglary III and theft of property III after he allegedly broke into Advanced Auto Parts on West Cummings Avenue.

According to the offense report, Phillips is charged with stealing $260 in cash after the business closed on Wednesday. The theft was discovered Thursday morning and reported to police shortly after the store opened, the report stated.

Phillips was arrested on Sunday and booked into the Covington County Jail and held on a $13,000 bond.
