ELLEN JONES EVANS
Ellen Jones Evans, 78, of Andalusia, passed away on Mon., Sept. 23, 2013, in the Andalusia hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., today, Sat., Sept. 28, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Cole officiating and interment following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gene Evans of Andalusia; her sons and daughter-in-law, Charles E. Evans of Decatur, Ga., and Carl D. and Patricia Evans; and granddaughter, Monica N. Evans, all of Collierville, Tenn.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to West Highland Baptist Church.

CLIDY MAE MATTHEWS
Clidy Mae Matthews of McKenzie passed away Thurs., Sept. 26, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Sat., Sept. 28, from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing arrangements.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Zephy Odom; son, Lee Horn; sisters, Lois Wyrosdick and Lola Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Matthews and brother, Ernest Odom, both of McKenzie.

CHRISTY LYNN WILLIAMS COPELAND
Christy Lynn Williams Copeland, 36, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Sept. 24, 2013.
Funeral services were held on Fri., Sept. 27, at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Boles officiating and interment following in Hopewell Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Drexel Copeland; her son, Taylor Copeland; her mother, Marilyn Williams; her father, Ronnie Williams, all of Andalusia; her sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Reed Robbins of Dothan; her maternal grandmothers, Evonne Watts of Evergreen and Hazel Williams of Andalusia; her in-laws, Ken and Suzy Baker of Andalusia; brothers-in-law, Craig (Denise) Copeland of Eufaula and Shannon Copeland and Ryan Copeland, both of Andalusia; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Larry Sims, Jimmy Rodgers, Sam Williams, Roy Dillard, Alex Leonard and Ferrell Whatley.

NELL ARMSTRONG BYRD
Nell Armstrong Byrd, 77, of Andalusia, passed away Wed., Sept. 25, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral services were held on Fri., Sept. 27, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joel Calhoun officiating and interment following in Zion Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include her sister, Demoval Biggs of Mobile; her nieces, Gail Wiggins of Semmes and Eula Weaver of Mobile; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

THE REV. WILLIAM MELVIN KILPATRICK
The Rev. William Melvin Kilpatrick went to be with the Lord on Fri., Sept. 6, 2013, at his home in Andalusia, with members of his family at his side.
He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Joan; daughters, Kay (George) Prussack of Eagle, Wis., and Lisa (Abra) Ward of Conyers, Ga.; sons, David Gene Kilpatrick and Michael (Tara) Kilpatrick, all of Andalusia; grandchildren, Stephanie (Steve) Strickland, Lauren (Luke) Banks of Georgia and Prussack, Wis., Nicole (Ryan) Mitchell and Zach (Lisa) Ward of Georgia, Jessica Kilpatrick, and Eric, Chris, Trace and Ashlyn Kilpatrick, all of Andalusia; great-grandchildren, Jared, Slade, Brody and Allie Strickland and Olivia Ward, all of Georgia, and Addyson Lynn Kilpatrick of Andalusia; three brothers, Rex (Irone) Kilpatrick, Leslie Ray Kilpatrick and Larry Kilpatrick; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Peggy Hayslip of Baker, Fla.; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Kilpatrick Thompson; parents, Oliver and Annie Kilpatrick of Gantt; brother, Willie Ray Kilpatrick; and sister, Emma Lois Faison.
Funeral arrangements were by Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home. The Revs. Roger Lee and Frankie McVay preached his funeral at Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was buried at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Zion Hill and Porter Harris. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Chris, Eric and Trace Kilpatrick, Zach Ward, and his nephews, Jeff Kilpatrick and Josh Copeland.
He was a minister and pastor for 65 yards. He led his first church at age 16 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Baker, Fla.
He attended Howard College, now Samford, and Mercer in Macon, Ga.
He led churches in Florida, Georgia and Alabama, and preached many revivals.
