A Florala teen was jailed Tuesday for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Florala Police Chief Sonny Bedsole said Cody D. Jones, 19, is now facing one count of rape II as a result.

Bedsole said the incident occurred in Lockhart; however, when a family emergency prevented Lockhart Police Chief Ted Motley from responding, the FPD volunteered to work the case.

“We were notified that the incident occurred sometime on Sept. 21 when Mr. Jones went to a residence in Lockhart to see a 14-year-old girl he’d met on Facebook,” Bedsole said. “There were other people in the residence; however, after they’d gone to bed, Jones had intercourse with the girl.”

Bedsole said after being interviewed, Jones confessed to the incident. He was then arrested and booked into the Covington County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
