Andalusia, sitting at No. 6 in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association football poll, will be facing Class 4A’s new No. 1 UMS-Wright for the region championship at AHS Municipal Stadium.
AHS beat Wilcox Central 27-6 to remain undefeated on the season, while UMS topped Clarke County 45-20.
Last season, AHS lost 21-12 in Mobile and is looking for its first win over UMS in school history. UMS holds a 9-0 advantage entering the contest in a few short days.
Cross-county rival Straughn stayed at No. 5 in Class 3A in the run-up to its region championship game at T.R. Miller.
The Tigers defeated Excel last week 26-13 to improve to 6-1 on the season, while TRM routed Southside Selma, 54-14 to stay at No. 3 in the poll.
Andalusia and Straughn’s games are only a handful of match ups between ranked opponents this week.
