Florala had its chances to take the lead over McKenzie, but the Tigers took advantage of a miscue or two and won 52-30 over the Wildcats on Friday night.

MHS led 28-24 at halftime and ran a fumble back 60 yards for a touchdown to give the Tigers a lead they’d never give up in the second half.

“Our kids fought hard,” FHS coach Bubba Nall said. “I felt confident about it. They’ve got tremendous speed. They keep you stretched.”

The Wildcats drove the field during the second half and were knocking on the TD door, but couldn’t get the ball in the end zone.

“We went from that close to going ahead, make a stop on defense, and then fumble the ball,” he said. “It went down hill after that.”

Florala visits Georgiana next week.
