Little Big Horn plays on despite weather

The weather was dreary, but the annual Little Big Horn marching band competition extended its streak of no rain outs to 33 years Saturday in Opp.

High School marching bands from all over Alabama and northwest Florida turned out for Saturday’s event, and several groups took home trophies for their performances.

Taking home this year’s big awards were: Northview High School (Dothan) – Most Entertaining Band; Andalusia High School – Best Soloist; Larry Batchelor of Northview High School – Director’s Award; Carroll High School – Fan’s Favorite; Hillcrest High School – Mallory Award.

Also in attendance were: Host band, Opp High School; Kinston High School; Freeport High School; Florala High School; rocky Bayou Christian; Straughn High School; Hillcrest High School; Geneva County High School; Elba High School; and Andalusia High School.
