Hannah Albright and Luke Gatewood were the fastest girl and boy participants in the Meredith’s Mile of the 13th annual Coterie Club “Run for Kids” Saturday morning.

Albright finished in 8 minutes, 59 seconds, and Gatewood clocked in at 7:48.

In addition to the kids race, a 5K race was held for the adults who decided to strap on their running shoes and give it a go.

Debbie Maraman, race coordinator, said the event helped clear about $12,300.

“We still have a little bit of money sponsorships that will come in later,” Maraman said. “The race went well. I was a little nervous about the weather with it being so cold.”

The weather evened out and it was a beautiful day, Maraman said.

“I was really pleased all who showed up for the 5K,” she said.

Kevin Echols was the overall male winner, notching a finishing time of 24:36.
