Before the turkey is carved and the dressing is served, the Straughn Lady Tigers basketball team will be busy hosting its annual Thanksgiving tournament, which starts on Monday.
Every year, the Lady Tigers host teams from around the area to compete for the first place trophy.
The teams competing are Houston Academy, Brantley, Straughn’s JV team, Luverne, Pleasant Home, Red Level and Straughn.
Games on Monday: Brantley vs. Straughn JV, 4:30 p.m.; Pleasant Home vs. Luverne, 6 p.m.; and Straughn vs. Red Level, 7:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, play will start at 4:30 p.m. in the elimination bracket between the losers of games two and three.
In the winner’s bracket, Houston Academy — who had a bye in the first round — will face the winner of the Straughn JV-Brantley game at 6 p.m.
The final game on the second day will be at 7:30 p.m. between the winners of games two and three (Straughn-RLS and PHS-Luverne).
A game to decide fifth place will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the final day of the tournament, and then a third place game will be held shortly afterward at 12:30 p.m.
The championship is slated for 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
