And the Tide wins again…or at least that was the case for the Andalusia High School Iron Bowl Canned Food Drive that was sponsored by the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) club. During Nov, 18-22, the AHS first block classes were challenged to bring in the most ounces of non-perishable food items to help families less fortunate this holiday season.
When the students brought in their items, they were to place them in either an Alabama or Auburn box that was decorated by the FCCLA members the previous week. On Friday, the verdict was in, and Mrs. Brannon’s first block class won first place with a total of 4,241.6 ounces of non-perishable food items donated. Alabama won by a landslide with 8,343.15 ounces compared to Auburn’s 4,749.51 ounces. A total of 13,092.66 ounces was donated by AHS students.
Brannon’s homeroom will be rewarded with a pizza party. All canned food items were donated to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
