Lady Bobcats defeat Kinston

Opp’s Saquaya Lane scored 22 of the Lady Bobcats’ 29 points in her team’s 29-22 win over Kinston Tuesday night.

Lane led all OHS scoring by a wide margin. Breanna White came in second with six points, during a game in which two of the Lady Bobcats’ starters — Asia Edwards (knee) and Anna Davis (sickness) — didn’t play.

With this victory, the OHS girls improve to 4-1 on the season.

Kinston’s Kelsey Carnley led the Lady Bulldogs with eight points. Kaci Musgrove chipped in six.

In the varsity boys game, the Bobcats fell 50-31.

Derek Savage led OHS (2-3) with 12 points.

Kinston’s Lane Clark had 16 points. Patrick Smith and Dallas Dean contributed eight points each.

In B-team action, Opp remains undefeated on its season after a 29-28 overtime win over KHS.

Dewayne Bonham led OHS with six points, and made he game-winning layup in extra time.

KHS trailed 29-27 at that point during the game, and made 1-of-2 from the line in the final seconds.

Peyton Whigham chipped in five points for OHS.

Marquavious Hall got the game-tying 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime.

Kinston’s Austin Richardson led with eight points. Lake Clark had five points.

Opp hosts Providence Christian tonight in regular season action, and will then travel to face rival Andalusia on Friday.
