The board of the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday terminated its executive director.

Andalusia attorney Tom Albritton, who represents the Chamber, released the following statement on the board’s behalf:

“The board of directors for the Andalusia Chamber of Commerce met today and voted unanimously to terminate the employment of executive director Ashley Eiland, effective immediately. The Board wishes to focus on the continued growth and development of Andalusia’s business community, and believes this change will allow the Chamber to move in a positive direction.”

The actions follow the execution of a search warrant Thursday night at the Chamber office, as well as Eiland’s home and vehicle. Law enforcement officers have not revealed the nature of the investigation, but numerous cell phones and electronic items were taken during the searches.

Chamber president Jessie Self said on Friday that the investigation is not about the chamber. The district attorney’s office released a similar statement Friday afternoon.
