When you are heading to the mailbox to send out those holiday greeting cards, don’t forget letters addressed to the North Pole have a deadline.

Mike Kaolmetz, Andalusia’s postmaster, said a special mailbox with a direct route to Santa’s workshop has been set up in the Andalusia Post Office on East Three Notch Street, but kids need to drop off their letters by Tue., Dec. 17.

Kaolmetz said stamps are appreciated and letters should be marked with a return address, in order to ensure Santa can reply to each child who mails a letter.

“We expect to get the letters off (to the North Pole) and back pretty quickly,” he said.

Other important mailing deadlines for Christmas delivery are:

• Dec. 14 for standard post mail and international priority mail;

• Dec. 16 for international flat packages and envelopes;

• Dec. 17 for international and military priority express mail;

• Dec. 20 for first class mail;

• Dec. 21 for priority mail; and

• Dec. 23 for priority express mail.
