CLARA B. LITTLE

Clara B. Little, 81, of Jack, passed away Wed., Dec. 18, 2013, at Troy Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Sat., Dec. 21, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Bush officiating and interment following at the Old Bethel Cemetery. Keahey Funeral Home will be directing. The family will receive friends at Keahey Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by her sons, Carl (Melissa) Scott, Tony Scott, Robert Scott and Clayton Hendricks; daughters, Susan (Gene) Wright, all of Andalusia, Tami (Ricky) Lawson of Jack and Lisa (Johnny) Halford of Andalusia; sisters, Gertrude Harris of Robertsdale and Rosie Carley of Bay Minnette; 35 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Erlen Davenport.

 

ANNA LOU ‘DEMP’ BROWN BUSBEE

Anna Lou “Demp” Brown Busbee, 95, formerly of Andalusia, passed away on Mon., Dec. 16, 2013, in Niceville, Fla.

Graveside services will be held Sat., Dec. 21, at the Able Cemetery at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Wayne Sharpe officiating. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Foreman Funeral Home.

When her father died in 1924, the family moved to the Opp Mill Village, and when she was 16, she quit school to work with her mother in the Opp Cotton Mill. At age 20, she married Woodrow Busbee of the Curtis Community. At age 34, she went back to Opp High School and graduated with outstanding grades. At 50, she studied nursing and worked at Andalusia Hospital for several years. She was a member of the Opp and Andalusia Order of the Easter Star, the Homemakers Club and Gantt Baptist Church. Over the years, she won many blue ribbons at the Covington County Fair for preserves and quilts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Busbee; both parents, Margaret Elizabeth Kimbro and Halver Labon Brown; brothers, Grady, Hub and T.J. Brown; sister, Lucy Brown Barnes; son-in-law, E.R. (Tobey) Merrill; and great-great granddaughter, Lyndsey Erin Wood.

She is survived by sons, James Larry (Caroline) Busbee of Milton, Fla., and Patrick Hubbert (Debbie) Busbee of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Delores Busbee Merrill of Niceville, Fla.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Merrill (Scott) Wade, Lynda Lee Merrill, Cynthia Merrill (Matt) Joyner, Angela Busbee (Ray) Swaney, Michael (Jennifer) Busbee, Jedidiah (Melanie) Busbee and Hannah Busbee (Derek) Shipley; great-grandchildren, Abbey Wood (Neil) Pollan, Stephanie Wood (Kyle) Burns, Emily Wade, Sarah Wade, Anna Wade, Ian Swaney, Kayla Swaney, Reid Spengler, William Spengler, Anne Spengler, Mary Spengler, Caleb Busbee, Natalie Busbee and Noah Shipley; great-great grandchildren, Jacob Burns, Charlotte Burns, Dash Burns and Alexandra Pollan; seven nieces and nephews; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Gantt Baptist Church.
