Residents should be able to pay their property tax bills with a credit card after the first of the year, Chairman Bill Godwin said.
“We’re making slight progress in allowing the acceptance of credit cards at the county revenue office,” Godwin said. “We’re shooting for the first of January.”
And until then, bills can be paid using cash, check, money orders or cashier’s check.
Commissioners voted in August to allow the practice; however, technical and infrastructure issues have prevented staff from implementing the program.
Once started, credit cards will also be accepted at the sheriff’s office for pistol permit fees.
