Propane companies are also feeling the rush to meet customer demands, area officials said Monday.

“As soon as we opened, the calls started coming in, and they haven’t stopped all day,” said Cam Jones, manager of Casey Propane in Andalusia. Jones said crews were working to fill tanks “as quickly as possible” ahead today’s blistery, freezing weather.

At Thompson Gas, officials said crews worked three routes non-stop Monday to service customers in all of Covington, Coffee and Conecuh counties, as well as parts of Florida.

As of Monday afternoon, the price per gallon of propane ranged from $2.96 to $3.04.
