Straughn’s boys and girls basketball teams are still ranked in the top 10 of the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 3A poll, which was released for the first time since before the Christmas holidays.

The Tigers improved to 10-2 on the season and bumped up one spot to No. 5 in the boys poll, while the girls remained at No. 3 after improving to 14-1 on the season the other night with a 42-26 victory over Daleville last week.

Over the holidays, the Lady Tigers won Red Level’s annual Christmas tournament with ease. The boys ended up finishing in third place as they defeated Andalusia 55-47 in the consolation game.

During the RLS tournament, SHS played a good game against Luverne, but ended up falling 48-22.

SHS is back in action tonight as it travels to play Southside Selma in a Class 3A, Area 2 matchup.

Tonight’s games start at 4:30 with the B-team.
