Opp’s goal for each of its practices and games from now until the area tournament is to “get better,” Bobcats coach Sterling Driver said after his team fell 63-50 in area action to Southside Selma Tuesday night.

The Bobcats were given the inside lane by the Panthers, and felt like they had a chance down in the paint, Driver said.

“We started lining it up and played small and quick,” he said. “We got it to the high post a bit.”

Opp’s Ty White had a good game for the Bobcats in this offensive scheme, scoring 18 points to lead his team. Orlando Lacey chipped in 15 points.

“We played man a little bit with some zone,” Driver said. “We had a good chance in the fourth quarter, but we couldn’t get over the hump.”

JaKeith Edwards also had a good night with 10 points for OHS.

In girls action, the Lady Bobcats fell 35-27 to the Lady Panthers.

Saquaya Lane led OHS with 11 points.

Opp will be back in action on Friday at Straughn.

The Bobcats are standing in the way of the Tigers, who have to win in order to secure the right to host the Class 3A, Area 2 tournament.
